•urgent problems such as homelessness, unlawful eviction, deregistration
•information on forms and documents needed for visa and Access to Learning Fund applications
•information on applying for academic concessions
•information on student funding (though complex matters will need an appointment)
-
Examples of what we cannot handle at a drop-in session:
-
-
•academic appeals
-
•preparing a visa application
-
•Access to Learning Fund applications
-
•complex budgeting or debt advice
-
•checking tenancy agreements and complex housing advice

You can call our advice line service Monday to Friday between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm. You can use this service to get advice on most things, although we will sometimes need to ask you to make an appointment because we cannot deal with your problem over the phone.
Call 01227 824824 or call in to Reception in the Mandela Building Monday - Friday between 9:00 am and 6:00 pm
Email your questions to us at advice@kent.ac.uk and we'll acknowledge your email within one working day and get back to you with advice within 5 working days. Please be aware that at busy periods it may take longer to get a response, but you will always receive an acknowledgment email from us.
You may find a lot of information which is useful to you on these pages, but please note that some of the information relates specifically to students based on the Canterbury campus, so it will not be relevant to you.
There is a Student Advice Centre on the Medway campus, so if you study there, please go to the UMSA website.
We can advise students at the Brussels or Paris campus on UK visas, but not Belgian/French visas and we cannot advise on matters relating to Belgian or French law. If you are studying in Brussels or Paris and you need advice on a visa to study in the UK, please phone or email us. If you need advice on anything else, please contact your local support staff in the first instance. They will refer you to us if necessary.
