sabbatical officers and visas
Thinking about standing for election as a Kent Union Officer?
If you are an international student at the University of Kent, you can get a Tier 4 Student visa while you are a Sabbatical Officer for Kent Union. You can stand for election again and serve for a second year - the visa will be issued for one year at a time.
If your current student visa covers the period for which you are due to serve as a Sabbatical Officer, you can carry out your duties without making another immigration application, but you will need to make an application later, to continue your studies at Kent.
If you are currently on a Tier 4 visa, the university will have to notify the UKBA that you UKBA that you are working as a Sabbatical Officer.
If your immigration permission (visa) is about to expire, you will have to make an immigration application and the university will issue you with a Confirmation of Acceptance for studies (CAS) which states that you are serving as a Sabbatical Officer.
