1) Project development - from conception to reality. Using the Buddy Scheme as a case study.

In this session, the steering committee of the Buddy Scheme will talk you through how to make a project idea a reality. Using their experience of setting up the buddy scheme - a project that pairs trained volunteers with adolescents with autism, adhd or a similar social/communication problem - the tutors will guide you through the process making your project idea a reality. Discussing the practical barriers you will need to overcome, you will learn the essential skills of reflection, organisation and how to develop a comprehensive outline of your proposed project.

2) Writing according to guidelines - modifying your writing style to fit what is required. Using the Student Journal of Psychology as a case study.

In this session, members of the Student Journal of Psychology editorial team will talk about the importance of writing according to guidelines. Many employers will require their staff to write according to a specific set of guidelines including writing style and format. Researchers will need to abide by the rules of specific journals before making entries. In this session, the Student Journal of Psychology will be used as a case study to investigate what rules you will likely encounter and how best to prepare for this.
