We use the creative arts to allow people to express themselves in any way possible. We intend to put on events using any form of creativity to raise money for charity from cake sales, to helping build Big Cat Sanctuaries, to photography competitions, to life drawing classes. However, we do not just dedicate ourselves to raising money for charity. We also hope to put on workshops with local artists, where you bring your own mediums, and the artist will hopefully inspire you to create a work of art in the time you spend with them. Our core members are really passionate about the arts, and have a wide interest in all aspects of creativity. We are also working with ITV Fixers to make a short feature about bullying in schools (for various issues like homophobia, eating disorders, drug and alcohol abuse etc) which will go on DVD and be put in teaching packs to ensure teachers are fully aware of some of the things people go through. ITV help to fund this project only, and hopefully help us to make and edit a professional DVD that will be put to good use. It costs a mere £4 to join our society, but the events and happenings really depend on the demand we get from our members, so come and join and just generally have fun. You have no real commitments if you don’t want to come. It’s quite causal as we don’t meet every week, only a few times before an event takes place to know what everyone wants to do, and where we stand. Our goals in what we want to raise etc, and then meetings and rehearsals for the ITV feature.
We would really appreciate your support as we’re a new society, and need as much help to raise money, and promote expression as possible.
