English Society

The brand new English society is aimed at all students studying or harbouring an interest in English Literature. It is hoped that the society will bring together all students taking English - as well as those from other courses with an interest in the subject - and from all years so that they have a chance to socialise with others on their course outside a teaching environment. It will give students a chance to talk to others taking the same modules and discuss any issues or simply chat about how great English is, as well as getting the chance to mix with students from other years and thus benefit from the advice of those who have already been there and done it! The society will be entering its inaugural year at the start of the new term, but the committee will be working hard to ensure that it is a success and that you, the students, get as much out of it as you deserve. Throughout the year there will be trips to the theatre, including Shakespeare’s Globe, fundraising activities, regular meetings with guest speakers covering a wide range of topics, and of course plenty of socials! The aim is to create an enjoyable, exciting and informal atmosphere for students to interact, learn about literary subjects outside their chosen modules, and most importantly… have plenty of fun!

Please visit the English society stall at the Welcome Fayre on Thursday 25th September 2008, 12noon-5pm or email Daniel Bowers (President) on db226@kent.ac.uk for more information.
