Kent Dance

Kent Dance is a friendly and sociable society for anyone who loves to dance! Whether you have been having lessons since you were a five year old in a tutu, or whether you just love to dance the night away, then Kent Dance is for you. Dancing is a great way to keep fit, meet like minded people, and give you a rest from all that hard work. At only £5 to join, we offer and take part in a huge range of events and activities on and off campus, including...

CLASSES
In the Autumn Term we offer lots of classes at varying levels to cater for everyone. Even if you have never danced before our Beginners classes will literally teach you from the beginning. Please see www.kentdance.org for the timetable (coming soon)!

So far we will be holding classes in: Beginners Tap, Advanced Tap (including 'Tap Dogs'), Contemporary, Irish Dance (Beginners and Advanced, soft and hard shoe), Ballet (Beginners and Advanced), Modern/Jazz and HipHop.

The classes will be an additional cost, but we offer a number of excellent value tariffs to suit everyones needs.

SOCIALS
With the lovely Rachael, our Social Secretary, arranging socials for every two to three weeks our social calendar is always an exciting and diverse one. From nights out in the venue, to the Christmas meal and trips to see local shows (in the Gulbenkian and Marlowe Theatres), there are plenty of opportunities to meet new people and catch up with friends you've made in classes! We aim to give plenty of warning so you can plan all your uni work (!) etc ahead of time to make sure you can come along (and get your costumes sorted!).

In Week One we will be holding a Welcome Meeting for you to find out all about us, and our Initiations will be held in Week Two...

SHOWS
One of our main events is our annual SHOW! This takes place in the Gulbenkian Theatre, this year on Friday 20th March 2009...With sell out shows over the past three years this is definitely something to look forward to. There are lots of ways to get involved: whether you want to choreograph a dance, help out backstage or perform in lots of dances there'll definitely something for you to do. (Rehearsals start in January, theme to be decided).

COMPETITIONS
This year we are planning to take part in a number of competitions, the main one being at Loughborough University early next year.

So, in short, we've got absolutely LOADS planned for the year...if you have any questions at all the please email Becki (President) on rlr8@kent.ac.uk.
