Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Waheguru Ji Ke Fateh

Welcome to the UKC Sikh Society 2007. We are a diverse society that blends the modern, traditional and religious concepts of Sikhism to
build a bridge between the various elements that make both the Sikh religion and the Punjabi culture. In addition, we aim to illustrate the philosophy that every individual enjoys similar status and advocates tolerance and respect for other religions, faiths and ways of life. It's all about enjoyment, gaining experience and most importantly Love, Respect and Equality!!!
The main aims for the Sikh Society 2007 are:
1)         To promote naam japna (recitation of God's name). This will be achieved by holding regular Simran (meditation) sessions.
2)         To provide talks on Sikhism, giving an insight to God's message to mankind.
3)         To stress the importance of doing Seva, (selfless service).
4)         To teach Punjabi to the community.
5)       To promote the Sikh culture and values and keep everyone in Chaardi Kalaa (high spirits)
In addition to the Sikh faith, we also intend to promote the Punjabi
Culture to the students of the University of Kent. Our aims here will be to host the following:
1)         Bhangra lessons
2)         Bhangra events
3)         Giddha lessons
This will be for some song and dance purposes only.
We will forward information on religious and cultural programmes to our members regularly via the internet, posters, flyers and through socials so that they will be kept well informed. Our members are paramount thus we would appreciate any comments or suggestions regarding the society. This is your society so make sure your opinions are heard!!
