Sports Fed Exec- Tom Vandenkendelaere

As a POL/IR MPhil student, I am perhaps the odd one in the list of
sports fed execs. However, I consider this to be an advantage as the
team of Sports fed execs is now more diverse and therefore able to cover
all students who wish to be part of the University's sports community.
As a sports scholar and last year's captain of the Men's Volleyball
team, I ran for Sports fed exec, in order to further develop my
contribution towards sports at Kent.
As I believe the action points I
had in mind for my own club could be applied to a greater number of
sports clubs, I think being one of the Sports fed executives is the
ideal way of pursuing my goals.
These goals are mainly based on two pillars. On the one hand, I want to
increase the on-campus community feeling for all students, through
targeting new postgraduate students as well as PhD students and staff
members, in order to get them involved in our various sports clubs. On
the other hand, I want to increase the feeling of community vis-à-vis
other universities by setting up a common transport system, which could
be used by all clubs.
Furthermore, I support the construction of an
Olympic swimming pool on our campus as well as more frequent group
courses such as Circuit training, as everyone should be able to take
part in group activities. Defending the colours of Kent should be an
honour for all of us, and I wish to contribute to that. Do not hesitate
to contact me in case of further questions: tv30@kent.ac.uk.
