Additional Awards
There are numerous awards available for students involved within Volunteering, in addition to the KSCV certificate scheme, the majority of which reward those students who have gone above and beyond the call of duty. In most cases, the Volunteering staff will nominate those students they feel have shown the commitment and desire needed for a particular award, however, there are some awards available where students can nominate themselves, or their peers.

The winner of the Volunteer Project of the Year award 2007-8 was the RAG Snow Ball.
Special Volunteer Awards
Four Special Volunteer Awards are given out in the May KSCV Award ceremony every year. These awards recognise individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of volunteering. There are no criteria for these awards, and individual achievement varies from person to person, however we do require people to write a brief statement (of no more than 750 words) detailing why they feel someone should receive the award.
Winners all get an engraved glass plaque.
Staff and students can nominate individuals for the Special Volunteer Awards, and the Volunteering Co-Ordinators make the decision on whom should receive the award.
HEFCE Awards
This is an extremely prestigious award, so if you would like to be considered for nomination for your work, please speak to a member of the volunteering staff.
Student Volunteering England Gold Awards
The Student Volunteering England Gold Awards open in March and take place in May. Kent Union staff nominate individuals who have gone above and beyond the call of volunteering duty. Previous nominees have included the editors of the student magazine / newspaper. The Volunteering Committee decides on whom the eventual recipiants of the awards should be, and they are presented with their awards at the KSCV May Awards Night. They judge people in three catagories - dedication, achievement and leadership.
Lord Mayor's Awards
The Lord Mayor's Awards recognise those individuals who have made a difference to the local community in the Canterbury region. Anybody can nominate an individual for a Lord Mayor's Award, and the Volunteering Staff nominate the students that they feel fulfill this criteria. Previous nominees have included students who work in Rainbows, St Martins Hospital, Rainer Mentoring, and the Scrine Foundation.
