KSCV Platinum
The highest level of award, complete 6 modules of volunteering across 2 academic years, as well as a panel presentation, a portfolio of evidence and a written assessment to gain this award. The KSCV Platinum can also count as an extra 15 credits on your degree transcript (so an extra module on top of the modules you would need to undertake in order to meet your degree requirements) or as a credit bearing module, (so instead of another module choice), available in your second year on the scheme.
The scheme is designed to really challenge student volunteers, take you out of your comfort zone and push you to develop yourself to your full potential. For this reason, it is extremely recommended that you speak to a member of volunteering staff before committing to the Award to ensure that it is suitable for you. This scheme is the highest level of award, and as such, while it is the most challenging, it is aso the most rewarding!
All students on the KSCV Platinum are assigned a mentor throughout the duration of the scheme.
The 6 modules are:
Active University Volunteering
Active Community Volunteering
Project Leadership
Training Facilitation
Committee Role
Mentoring
Eligibility:
1) You must have completed the KSCV 50 Hour Award
2) You must be in your second year of University
3) You must have at least 18 months of University life at Kent left.
Applications for the KSCV Platinum have now opened, and the application form is available below
Please send completed forms to rsc7@kent.ac.uk. Hard Copies and Large Print copies are also available from the Student Activities Centre.
To register the KSCV Platinum as a credit bearing module, you must choose it in your module choices for the 3rd year (which normally means selecting it at the end of your 1st year). If you are not a student within SSPSSR you can still select the Platinum as a wild module. Contact the Social Sciences Faculty Office for more information.
The Platinum can also appear on your degree transcript as a non-credit bearing module, but obviously this means doing it alongside your other modules as an extra!
