Don't Dump That - Don't Dump That is a website that encourages people not to throw away things others can use, or to find things online that they need for free.  It is growing quickly, and needs volunteers to help in all areas, from technical support to media relations to fundraising!  Don't Dump That relies on a small group of volunteers to run the local forums, maintain the website, promote the organisation and deal with all the admin, and as they are rapidly expanding, they need more help!  This is virtual volunteering, something you can do when you want, where you want!

Moderators:      They need moderators for all areas where there are no forums already, including those marked with an orange flag on the website map

Asst Moderators:    To help Moderators in many areas where there are forums already

Technical Team:    Technical Admin needs people with computer skills to spread the workload and keep the website and forums running smoothly

Member Support Team:    More members means more inquiries, and we need people to help members get the most out of Don'tDumpThat

Moderator Support Team:    More forums means more moderators, and even Moderators need support - we need people to help them

Media and Marketing Team:    They need people with PR experience or who want to gain experience to help them represent Don'tDumpThat in the media and to produce press releases, magazine articles and promotional materials

Fundraising:    They need people to help them find funding and/or sponsorship to support Don'tDumpThat in the future

Admin Team:    They need people to help with various admin tasks from time to time.  If you have admin or clerical skills and can help on a regular or occassional basis, they would love to hear from you

ITV Fixers - Volunteering somewhere you want to promote?  Done something you are proud about and want to shout about it?

ITV Fixers is a major campaign across the ITV Meridian and West regions where young people (16-25) can take action on anything they feel strongly about, changing things for the better. Young people can “fix” anything so long as it’s something useful and helps someone else. It could be something practical, creative, sporty, campaigning.... anything.  They are inviting young people to make a short film about their project which will be uploaded online onto the ITV local dedicated site and possibly shown on the ITV news in June when they have their official launch week. They have no limit to the number of films that can be uploaded and they are expecting a diverse range of topics to be covered in all kinds of ways.  They have a New Media team who can offer help with filming and borrowing of equipment if it is needed and they endeavour to support all young people involved throughout the process. They obviously want the young people to feel pleased and proud of their achievements but they are not censoring any films submitted on grounds of quality – they want everyone to be included regardless of ability and they will do tehir best to make sure that this happens.  They recognise that sometimes organisations will be working with young people who are not in their target age range but they are happy for you to develop projects that involve others alongside 16-25 year olds.  Everyone who participates is awarded a certificate and an ITV Fixers branded DVD of their film. They also offer to provide a reference for you outlining how you have personally been involved with ITV Fixers. They can work with you to help publicise what you do and ensure your young people get the most out of their involvement.

There are plenty of opportunities to get involved with CSR (the Radio Station) and inQuire (the Student Newspaper). Please speak to someone in the Student Activities Centre for more information

Community Liaison Officers for CSR FM - If you would like to work with young people from all backgrounds then volunteering for CSR may be for you.  You don't have to go on air if you don't want to and you will have the chance to work for the country's first student-led community FM radio station.   CSR need volunteers to help out in all areas in their community team,  from leading youth groups, mentoring and more!  You will need a CRB check, but this is easy to obtain.  For more information, visit the Student Activities Centre or e-mail Becky on rsc7@kent.ac.uk
