Don't Dump That is a website that encourages people not to throw away things others can use, or to find things online that they need for free. It is growing quickly, and needs volunteers to help in all areas, from technical support to media relations to fundraising! Don't Dump That relies on a small group of volunteers to run the local forums, maintain the website, promote the organisation and deal with all the admin, and as they are rapidly expanding, they need more help! Moderator Support Team: More forums means more moderators, and even Moderators need support - we need people to help them
Media and Marketing Team: They need people with PR experience or who want to gain experience to help them represent Don'tDumpThat in the media and to produce press releases, magazine articles and promotional materials

READ International - READ International were first set up by students 4 years ago, and have since expanded into a large charity organisation that now operates out of 11 UK Universities, and even won Best New Charity in the UK Charity Times Awards. They ask students to collect academic text books and organise to send them to Tanzania to help children and young people develop their education. They need a team of 8-10 student volunteers from the Canterbury region to co-ordinate the Kent effort. Roles also include 3 project leaders who manage a team of volunteers, and there is also the opportunity to go to Tanzania in the summer to distribute the books. Each University aims to collect 25,000 books, so the teams of volunteers need to arrange storage, fundraise money to cover the cost of their project (aprox £7,500), arrange book collections from local schools, colleges etc. Rob from READ International is coming to the campus on the 15th May at 4pm to answer any questions about what this role involves and also to give students more information about this fantastic opportunity.
