September
14th September - Dragon Boat Race - The NCH - National Children's Homes Charity - are organising a Dragon Boat race for the 14th September. Dragon Boat racing goes back more than 2000, and NCH are recreating it at Bewl Water. Team of paddlers race against each other, across 250 meters in long medieval style boats. The day will run from 10am - 4pm. Dragon Boat Racing is a lot of fun. As a competitor you will take part in several races, but also get to spend time relaxing, and being well looked after by the NCH team. As well as having a hospitality marquee for teams and their supporters, they will provide all our paddlers with delicious home-made refreshments throughout the day! Bands will play for your entertainment, there will be lots of stalls and games for all ages, and plenty of space for impromptu games of Frisbee and Football! Spectators and “cheerers” very welcome. You need a minimum of 16 rowers and 1 drummer to take part in the race (2 or 3 subs are also recommended). No experience is necessary, but rowers must be over 16yrs old. All you need to do to now is register your team with NCH. Please e-mail me for the contact details They only have a limited number of team-spaces available and the event gets very popular, so please get in touch as soon as possible to avoid disappointment
