The International Student Awards (Shine! 2009) is a British Council campaign which focuses on the
value of investing in a
students’ contribution to life in the
institution to gain some public recognition.
The campaign, now in its seventh year, celebrates the achievements of international students studying
in the
institutions.
Benefits
The International Student Award campaign is an excellent way of encouraging students who have
made the life-changing decision to study in the
celebrate their achievements. It also gives us, and you, access to authentic stories that can help us
to promote the
The competition on average attracts over 2,000 students every year, representing around 130
nationalities. Many gave inspirational accounts of their experiences and achievements while studying
in the
experiences and newly acquired skills have either enhanced their personal development, boosted
their career prospects, or helped them to achieve their ambitions.
The competition has produced many stories from students about their voluntary activities, work
placements and other non-academic activities that added value to their
included praise for the excellent quality of teaching in the
facilities and resources available.
Dates for your diary
The competition will be launched to students on 11 November 2008. However, before this
we need your help to tell students all about it. In early November we will send you a booklet
providing all the information that you need to know about the campaign and details on how
you can support it. We will give you access to promotional materials, web banners and press
releases so that supporting Shine! 2009 couldn’t be easier.
