A quick rundown of my activities throughout January and February...

First week back after Christmas was very quiet apart from the first meeting at the Council to plan their disability needs assessment of Canterbury.

The highlight of week two (11th -15th January) was meeting with Stagecoach to present the results of Get On Board and our recommendations for them and the University.

My third week back was the first week of term. Looking back at my diary a lot of time was spent on planning during that week – the upcoming AGM, Go Green Week and Vote For Students. We also launched the governance referendum which passed and now we will be bringing a new constitution based on that to a second referendum.

Week 14 (15th-29th) was equally busy kicking off with the re-freshers fair which was a brilliant day! Aside from many more planning meetings I also attended the Housing Fair along with the Advice Center where we tried to calm the annual panic that there are no houses left (there are more houses than students in Canterbury!).

The first week of February brought with it a huge pile of mashed potato to promote BBC Grub Club which was a brilliant day and hopefully got lots of you thinking a little bit more about Good Mood Food! For more info on this see www.bbc.co.uk/grubclub.

The week starting the 8th was frantically busy and also half snowed off! It started off with two days away from the office for NUS National Executive Council meetings in London, then representing a student at a plagiarism hearing, then a whole lot of snow!

On Monday 15th I headed to City University to the southern launch of the UK Mental Wealth Network which will become a UK wide network of student led mental health support. Also that week I attended an Access to Learning Fund Panel (ALF) and gave lots of deserving students money (one of the best parts of this job!); ran a STAND OUT training session on Understanding and Supporting Liberation; and #voteforstudents trended worldwide on Twitter!!

Finally, the last week of February saw the launch of Canterbury United at which I promoted Vote For Students; chairing the Environmental and Ethical scrutiny committee; attending the Times Top 100 Companies to work for (we came 21st!!); and then visiting Edinburgh University Students Association to learn about their direct experiences of HMO quotas and the impact that has had on Scottish students.
