September 2009
 
A quick rundown of what I have been up to throughout September...
 
Monday 7th – Thursday 10th – Well, I have recently got a new computer and this section of my diary appears to have been archived on the old one – oops! Generally I was catching up after my holiday and preparing for Welcome Week...
Friday 11th – Welcome Week Steering Group
Monday 14th – All staff training for Welcome Helper training and a meeting with all University managers about the University’s plans for Swine Flu
Tuesday 15th – Medway day
Wednesday 16th Handed in my dissertation! No longer a student L Also met with the President of the Christian Union to discuss working closer this year and was a trainer on Team Leader training
Thursday 17th – Day two of Welcome Helper training – this time supporting Lauren training the Keynes helpers. Also had a parking panel meeting and sat on the University’s Joint Capital Projects and Student Experience Working Group
Friday 18th – The calm before the storm! Final Welcome Week planning meetings and met with our local MP, Julian Brazier, along with the rest of the sabbatical team
Saturday 19th – Sunday 27th – Welcome Week! I supported Lauren running Keynes moving in weekend; attended the mature students lunch; spoke at the postgraduate induction; did one course rep talk!; ran the Students’ with Disabilities ‘meet and greet event’; attended the Medway Freshers Fayre; ran the four liberation campaign tables at both days of the Canterbury Welcome Fayre; and finally went to the Third Sector awards where Kent Union won the award for ‘Transparency and Accountability’.
Monday 28th – Met with Dr Nobel from the Medical Centre to discuss working together; visited Chaucer College with Rachel Forester-Jones to meet some of the students living there; attended University Committee training to prepare for the year of meetings ahead.
Tuesday 29th – Medway day!
Wednesday 30th – Social policy catch up with the Advice Centre and Dan Curran (Vice-President (Education)); attempted to go to a parking panel I had in my diary but that turned out not to be on!; and spoke to the new members of RAG about campaigns and how we can work together this year.
