The Buddy Scheme is a peer to peer support scheme co-ordinated by the Students’ Union that helps new students settle in to life at University and in Kent.
If you are a new student that started at the University of Kent this September, the experience might seem quite daunting! You are likely to have a million unanswered questions running through your head.
What is Canterbury/Medway like? Why can’t I figure out the bus services? Where else can I visit in Kent? Where can I do a food shop? I am struggling to make friends, what should I do?
If you are a returning student, then we are sure you can relate to that first year at uni panic! You probably wish you had someone there to help you with the experience, to comfort and support you during this exciting time in your university lives. To sit you down and say...‘Don’t worry! Everything is going to be okay!’
The scheme is run by students for students on both the Canterbury and Medway campuses. It aims to give new students the opportunity to have a Buddy Volunteer to support them through this crazy time, and help them get used to living in Canterbury/ Medway.
We are really excited to bring this scheme to the students this year and if you are interested in getting involved you can sign up here.
